Robbie McLeish took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jules Gangloff, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of SILMONT booed when Smiddy Celts was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jordan Donaldson didn't get a good kick on the ball. Freddy Escudié's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Robbie McLeish read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 27th minute of play. Thanks to some nice moves Jules Gangloff could shoot a difficult shot in the 29th minute, which Robbie McLeish however easily saved by the left post. Smiddy Celts's Robbie McLeish played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Javier Bordat in the 41st minute of play. After 43 played minutes, Smiddy Celts's Ronnie Lamb shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Patrice Marsonet came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Smiddy Celts reached it. In the 47th match minute, SILMONT was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Wang Feng Han to maneuver through the defense.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jason Duffus was the one to do the kick off. Robbie McLeish came out of the goal and Marcel Lemahieu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 88th minute Javier Bordat shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Robbie McLeish saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
