João Paulo Vander hit a great ball. Benvide Diez took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 19th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Amauri Aparecido. Wambalamba FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 25th minute, Fabinho Quadros managed to get in a good position for a shot. Wambalamba FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Fabinho Quadros was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Arnulfo Casas breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Gamus Marcos might have been able to make a better finish in the 27th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Amauri Aparecido. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Universitario de deportes's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. Universitario de deportes's Arnulfo Casas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Benê Loyola in the 35th minute of play. Gernando Gerber recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 37th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 42nd match minute, Wambalamba FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by João Paulo Vander to maneuver through the defense. After the first half Wambalamba FC were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Abel Figueres was the one to do the kick off. Brion Bermejo hit a great freekick 59 minutes into the match. Amauri Aparecido showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Abel Figueres, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eleazar Coello in the 74th minute of play forced Wambalamba FC's goalkeeper Amauri Aparecido to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Arnulfo Casas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Benê Loyola in the 77th minute of play. 79 minutes into the game, Eleazar Coello was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Amauri Aparecido made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Abel Figueres in the 90th minute of play. The Wambalamba FC players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented Universitario de deportes from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
