The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 4th minute, Leopoldo Fernanco ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Emilio Oterino was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. Leopoldo Fernanco might have been able to make a better finish in the 8th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Emilio Oterino. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Leopoldo Fernanco ran back to his position shaking his head. Emilio Oterino showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Leopoldo Fernanco, who was totally free with the ball in the 8th minute. Leopoldo Fernanco could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 11th minute of the match, but Emilio Oterino made a huge save. The referee felt a red card was in order, 16 minutes into the game, when Raymundo Echaitia put in a rough tackle. Raymundo Echaitia hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. In the 19th match minute, Garfield Dream Team was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Natanael Belo to maneuver through the defense. Emilio Oterino was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 20th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Antonio Madeo. After 22 minutes, Irrintzi Matanza mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Garfield Dream Team and the Celta de Virgos players grew even worse after the yellow card. When Leopoldo Fernanco came up free with the goalie in the 23rd minute, the Celta de Virgos fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Leopoldo Fernanco couldn't finish the play. In the 24th match minute, Garfield Dream Team was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Irrintzi Matanza to maneuver through the defense. When Leopoldo Fernanco came up free with the goalie in the 25th minute, the Celta de Virgos fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Leopoldo Fernanco couldn't finish the play. After 29 minutes of play, Celta de Virgos's Leopoldo Fernanco made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Emilio Oterino was left in no man's land by his defense there! Leopoldo Fernanco sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Garfield Dream Team's Emilio Oterino played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Leopoldo Fernanco in the 35th minute of play. Leopoldo Fernanco had several of the Garfield Dream Team's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 36 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 3-0 score and a disappointed Emilio Oterino as he didn't even see the shot coming. 40 minutes into the game, Leopoldo Fernanco lined in a short shot 4-0 behind a frustrated Emilio Oterino. An unexpectedly hard shot by Leopoldo Fernanco in the 47th minute of play forced Garfield Dream Team's goalkeeper Emilio Oterino to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 4-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Leopoldo Fernanco to make the kick off. Sergio Ermengol sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Celta de Virgos's Arnoldo Florian was substituted for Leopoldo Fernanco. Celta de Virgos made a substitution. Fernan Moise replaced Arnoldo Poz. After 55 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Celta de Virgos! After having played for 62 minutes, Arnoldo Florian managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Celta de Virgos's supporters crossed their fingers, but Arnoldo Florian was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Arnoldo Florian blasted a shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Emilio Oterino having to make a save. Emilio Oterino showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Arnoldo Florian, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. 72 minutes into the match, Garfield Dream Team's goal looked a bit too open when Arnoldo Florian came free, but Emilio Oterino reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Arnoldo Florian scored 5-0 in the 75th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Emilio Oterino, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Emilio Oterino stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Arnoldo Florian's shot from short distance in the 79th minute. The supporters of Celta de Virgos booed when Garfield Dream Team was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tabby Elguera didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 81 minutes, Arnoldo Florian managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Celta de Virgos's supporters crossed their fingers, but Arnoldo Florian was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 84 minutes into the game, Arnoldo Florian cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 6-0. Emilio Oterino was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 87 minutes into the match, Garfield Dream Team's goal looked a bit too open when Arnoldo Florian came free, but Emilio Oterino reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Arnoldo Florian sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 89 minutes into the match, Garfield Dream Team's goal looked a bit too open when Arnoldo Florian came free, but Emilio Oterino reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 90 minutes into the match, Arnoldo Florian notched a goal, 7-0, to the right of Garfield Dream Team's Emilio Oterino. Emilio Oterino was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Emilio Oterino showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Arnoldo Florian in the 94th minute of the match. Garfield Dream Team's Emilio Oterino played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Arnoldo Florian in the 95th minute of play. Emilio Oterino took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Arnoldo Florian, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 95th minute, Arnoldo Florian left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Celta de Virgos fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 8-0. There was no doubt that Celta de Virgos were the better team. Celta de Virgos's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
