In the 8th minute, AFC Richmond's Frances Pack ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Victoriano Ferran. Victoriano Ferran yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. Brett Hull's late challenge caught a Lyons's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Brett Hull helped the player get up and apologised. After 11 played minutes AFC Richmond got a freekick which was hit by Nicholas Nadeau. Victoriano Ferran made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wallace Blum in the 16th minute of play. Lyons's Victoriano Ferran proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 18th minute of the match, managed to save Lyons from getting a goal against them. When Mario Peio fell near the penalty area in the 20th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Lyons's protests and gave Mario Peio a yellow card for diving instead. In the 20th minute, Mario Peio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 21st minute Lupe Titus shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Victoriano Ferran saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 23 played minutes Lyons got a freekick which was hit by Jorge Enol. 24 minutes into the match, Lyons's goalkeeper Victoriano Ferran had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Preston Guzman. Hubert Sharp made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Victor Ibar in the 27th minute of play. 29 minutes into the match, AFC Richmond's goal looked a bit too open when Marco Quirze came free, but Hubert Sharp reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Lupe Titus hit a great freekick 33 minutes into the match. 37 minutes into the game, Lupe Titus recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Victoriano Ferran. Lupe Titus showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-0. Marco Quirze scored 2-1 in the 42nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Hubert Sharp, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. When Herminio Vincente came up free with the goalie in the 45th minute, the Lyons fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Herminio Vincente couldn't finish the play. In the 47th minute, Victor Ibar made a precise shot to the right of Hubert Sharp. AFC Richmond's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-2. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.
After having played for 52 minutes, Marco Quirze managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Lyons's supporters crossed their fingers, but Marco Quirze was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With a little luck, AFC Richmond's Hubert Sharp got control of the ball when Herminio Vincente tried to sneak it across the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Herminio Vincente kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Hubert Sharp. That made the score 2-3 in the 54 minute of play. Hubert Sharp made an important save on a dangerous shot by Herminio Vincente in the 57th minute. Lupe Titus was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 59th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Hubert Sharp made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marco Quirze in the 61st minute of play. 64 minutes into the game, Lupe Titus cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-3. Victoriano Ferran was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lupe Titus in the 67th minute of play forced Lyons's goalkeeper Victoriano Ferran to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 68 minutes, Herminio Vincente mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Lyons and the AFC Richmond players grew even worse after the yellow card. An unexpectedly hard shot by Brett Hull in the 69th minute of play forced Lyons's goalkeeper Victoriano Ferran to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Hippolyte Salois kicked well hit freekick during the 70th minute of the match. After some careless play in the Lyons defense, Lupe Titus kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Victoriano Ferran. The Lyons fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Victoriano Ferran should have stopped the shot. Hubert Sharp made a fantastic save in the 79th minute, when Agustin Jaunti sent off a good shot on target. Victoriano Ferran came out of the goal in the 81st minute to try and stop a shot by AFC Richmond's Frances Pack. But to his dismay, Frances Pack quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 5-3. After some careless play in the AFC Richmond defense, Victor Ibar kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Hubert Sharp. The AFC Richmond fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Hubert Sharp should have stopped the shot. When Lyons's Victor Ibar in the 87th minute got a chance for a shot 87th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye AFC Richmond's goalie prevented a goal. Victoriano Ferran didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Frances Pack went, in the 95th minute, to the upper right corner, 6-4 was the resulting score.
