The CAN ERZURUM fans' excitement grew in the 16th match minute when CAN ERZURUM's Atabek Tecimen looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Nils-Åke Broberg hit a great ball. 25 minutes into the game, CAN ERZURUM's Ümit Akyüz nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ümit Akyüz got free with Henning Hernström in the 32nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 34th minute Nils-Åke Broberg shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tuncer Polathan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Nils-Åke Broberg in the 34th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Tuncer Polathan prevented the ball from getting in the gole. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mauri Icardi in the 39th minute of play forced Tallboda Gunners's goalkeeper Henning Hernström to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 40 minutes into the game, Rıfkı Esenboğa was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. CAN ERZURUM's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Tallboda Gunners the free kick. Rıfkı Esenboğa hit a great freekick 40 minutes into the match. After 41 minutes of play, Tallboda Gunners's Karl-Erik Ahlbom made it 2-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Tuncer Polathan was left in no man's land by his defense there! The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 2-2 after a close first half.

CAN ERZURUM's Okan Buruk was substituted for Hakkı Deniz Yerlikaya. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Atabek Tecimen to strike the kick off in the second half.
