When Castanheiro SC's Cristian Salles in the 18th minute got a chance for a shot 18th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. After 34 played minutes Castanheiro SC got a freekick which was hit by Waldemar Guimarães. In the 36th minute José Maria Quadros shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Christian Trombetta saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 39th minute, José Maria Quadros managed to get in a good position for a shot. Castanheiro SC's supporters rose to their feet, but José Maria Quadros was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Christian Trombetta breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Castanheiro SC were furious when Waldemar Guimarães was red carded, 48 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Cristian Salles stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Filippo Berti's late challenge caught a Castanheiro SC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Castanheiro SC were awarded a corner in the 68th minute after Borgo Doria F.C.'s defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Jeferson Mandrak took the corner. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Borgo Doria F.C. walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
