In the 50th match minute, Rosenborg was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Antonello Desiderio to maneuver through the defense.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Florian Bulla to make the kick off. 55 minutes into the game, Antonello Desiderio recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Carman Jobson. Antonello Desiderio showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-1. With an all-out effort, Rosenborg's Carman Jobson threw himself towards the right post 63 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Fortunato Zola, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Southern Thrashers's Carman Jobson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fortunato Zola in the 77th minute of play. Carman Jobson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniele Ramundo in the 78th minute of play. Southern Thrashers were furious when Carter Hilton was red carded, 80 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. Rosenborg's Dino Cieri was substituted for Florian Trabucco. After some careless play in the Southern Thrashers defense, Fortunato Zola kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Carman Jobson. The Southern Thrashers fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Carman Jobson should have stopped the shot. 96 minutes into the game, Rosenborg's Florian Bulla nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Carman Jobson made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-4.
