The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Gerardo Salomone helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Hermosillo FC getting a freekick after 17 minutes play. Gerardo Salomone hit a great ball. In the 19th minute Amuchechukwu McPherson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Flávio de Azevedo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 21st minute Feliciano Boni shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Flávio de Azevedo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Bernabe Ladio scored 0-1 in the 43rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Flávio de Azevedo, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 46 minutes into the match, Hermosillo FC's Amuchechukwu McPherson sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Flávio de Azevedo narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Matheus Vaz stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Hermosillo FC's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
