Samuel Lux showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kostas Kanonidis in the 3rd minute of the match. After 14 minutes, Paulo Puente mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Inter de Guayaquil FC and the AFC Ajax players grew even worse after the yellow card. 15 minutes into the match, Inter de Guayaquil FC's goal looked a bit too open when Kostas Kanonidis came free, but Samuel Lux reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kostas Kanonidis in the 15th minute of play forced Inter de Guayaquil FC's goalkeeper Samuel Lux to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 17 minutes into the match, Inter de Guayaquil FC's goal looked a bit too open when Charis Katydis came free, but Samuel Lux reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 17 played minutes Charis Katydis rounded Inter de Guayaquil FC's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-0. Lakis Megas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Manuel Nobal, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. In the 24th minute of the match Inter de Guayaquil FC got a corner. AFC Ajax's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Manuel Nobal ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led Inter de Guayaquil FC's Manuel Nobal to fire away a dangerous shot which Lakis Megas despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. With an all-out effort, AFC Ajax's Samuel Lux threw himself towards the right post 28 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Kostas Kanonidis, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. An unexpectedly hard shot by Manuel Nobal in the 32nd minute of play forced AFC Ajax's goalkeeper Lakis Megas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Vassilis Kagiasis made in the 35th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Andreas Daskalakis. Inter de Guayaquil FC's Samuel Lux played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Andreas Daskalakis in the 36th minute of play. When Diego Di Maria came up free with the goalie in the 37th minute, the Inter de Guayaquil FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Diego Di Maria couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Diego Di Maria in the 39th minute of play forced AFC Ajax's goalkeeper Lakis Megas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 41 minutes into the match, AFC Ajax's goal looked a bit too open when Diego Di Maria came free, but Lakis Megas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Diego Di Maria blasted a shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Lakis Megas having to make a save. Lakis Megas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Diego Di Maria, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

After a rather tough play, AFC Ajax's Charis Pomonis got a free kick in the 53rd minute. In the 58th minute Manuel Nobal shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lakis Megas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. AFC Ajax's Lakis Megas proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 63rd minute of the match, managed to save AFC Ajax from getting a goal against them. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Diego Di Maria in the 65th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Lakis Megas saved AFC Ajax from getting behind. AFC Ajax made a substitution. Panos Thomaidis replaced Daniil Vouzas. Inter de Guayaquil FC were awarded a corner in the 67th minute after AFC Ajax's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Manuel Nobal took the corner. Manuel Nobal made a great header on Inter de Guayaquil FC's corner, it was just that AFC Ajax's Lakis Megas managed to reach the ball for a save. Diego Di Maria could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 69th minute of the match, but Lakis Megas made a huge save. A throw-in in the 71st minute of the game was made by Stavros Maridis with Andreas Daskalakis as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. Lakis Megas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Diego Di Maria, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Marcelo Brozović helped the player get up and apologised. In the 81st minute, Marcelo Brozović hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 82 minutes into the match, Inter de Guayaquil FC's goal looked a bit too open when Stamatis Giotas came free, but Samuel Lux reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After taking down the ball on AFC Ajax's corner Filippos Kourabies fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Samuel Lux quite easily take care of the ball. 86 minutes into the match, AFC Ajax's goalkeeper Lakis Megas had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Diego Di Maria. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
