Brigid Rutherford made an important save on a dangerous shot by Orlín Amuscotegui in the 37th minute. 40 minutes into the match, St. James Gate F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Tauro Fontecilla came free, but Brigid Rutherford reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of CDU Católica booed when St. James Gate F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 98 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rowland McDecland didn't get a good kick on the ball. CDU Católica's Cristóbal Lataste couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 99th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for St. James Gate F.C.. There was no doubt that CDU Católica were the better team. CDU Católica's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
