Grêmio 20 Julho's Sylwester Zarobski proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 4th minute of the match, managed to save Grêmio 20 Julho from getting a goal against them. 6 minutes into the match, Pipis Karapatakis dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Sylwester Zarobski, 1-0. 9 minutes into the match, Grêmio FBPA's goal looked a bit too open when Valdemar de Amaral came free, but Jardel Sanches reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jardel Sanches took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gilmar Romero, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Pipis Karapatakis received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Sylwester Zarobski tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 22nd minute, Deivid de Sena got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Grêmio 20 Julho's Sylwester Zarobski proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 27th minute of the match, managed to save Grêmio 20 Julho from getting a goal against them. Jardel Sanches took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Valdir Cavalcante, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 34 minutes Grêmio 20 Julho's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Filiph Biörling who took care of the corner kick. The corner led Grêmio FBPA's Filiph Biörling to fire away a dangerous shot which Sylwester Zarobski despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Mauro Alves's late challenge caught a Grêmio 20 Julho's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Mauro Alves helped the player get up and apologised. In the 35th match minute, Grêmio FBPA was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mauro Alves to maneuver through the defense. Darío Pereyra hit a great freekick 36 minutes into the match. When Franklin Galvão came up free with the goalie in the 37th minute, the Grêmio 20 Julho fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Franklin Galvão couldn't finish the play. In the 38th minute, Kaká Rot hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Grêmio FBPA's Jardel Sanches played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Valdemar de Amaral in the 39th minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Grêmio FBPA's Filiph Biörling slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Sylwester Zarobski. That made the score 2-0 after 40 minutes of play. In the 43rd minute Valdir Cavalcante shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jardel Sanches saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Pipis Karapatakis was the one to do the kick off. In the 56thth minute of the game Pipis Karapatakis who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Grêmio 20 Julho's Sylwester Zarobski was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Valdir Cavalcante struck a weak shot in the 58th minute. Jardel Sanches didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Grêmio 20 Julho. Valdir Cavalcante came free with the goalkeeper in the 60th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Jardel Sanches could save by the left post. If Valdemar de Amaral had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 64th minute the ball was on its way in behind Grêmio 20 Julho's goalkeeper Sylwester Zarobski, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Jardel Sanches made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Valdemar de Amaral in the 66th minute of play. Jardel Sanches made a fantastic save in the 67th minute, when Valdir Cavalcante sent off a good shot on target. If Pipis Karapatakis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sylwester Zarobski took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pipis Karapatakis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Kléber Borges made in the 74th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Grêmio FBPA's Kaká Rot. Grêmio 20 Julho's Jânio Pires was substituted for Franklin Galvão. After 85 played minutes Grêmio 20 Julho got a freekick which was hit by Kléber Borges. Grêmio 20 Julho's Sylwester Zarobski played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pipis Karapatakis in the 86th minute of play. 86 minutes into the game, Grêmio FBPA's Pipis Karapatakis nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Sylwester Zarobski made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-0. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Pipis Karapatakis in the 88th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Sylwester Zarobski saved Grêmio 20 Julho from getting behind. Grêmio FBPA's Nestor Leão quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Kléber Borges, made in the 91st minute of the game. Pipis Karapatakis received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Sylwester Zarobski tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 94 minutes into the match, Pipis Karapatakis had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Sylwester Zarobski. Grêmio 20 Julho's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Pipis Karapatakis was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-0. There was no doubt that Grêmio FBPA were the better team. Grêmio FBPA's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
