Jan Jelm was a little too slow when Jacinto Ponte got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 16th minute. The score was now 1-0. After a defensive mix-up in AD FAFE's zone, Joacim Backlund stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Filomeno Santana came out of the goal and Joacim Backlund tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 25 minutes in the game, Jacinto Ponte dribbled his way through the penalty area and after maneuvering past an opponent, drilled a quick shot at the goal. The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. Artur Caldas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joacim Backlund in the 35th minute of play forced AD FAFE's goalkeeper Filomeno Santana to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Richard Enegren to strike the kick off in the second half. After 55 played minutes AD FAFE got a freekick which was hit by Jacinto Ponte. The audience was convinced that Dick Bennet's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Filomeno Santana was relentless in the 97th minute of the game.
