Laércio Loureiro took the ball and in the 3 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Percival Prestes. Percival Prestes dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Laércio Loureiro in the 8th minute of play forced REAL VASCO RIO's goalkeeper Percival Prestes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Pedrão Souza in the 10th minute of play forced Inter de São Paulo's goalkeeper Kléber Salles to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Percival Prestes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Pedro Donatello in the 12th minute of the match. In the 13th minute Emerson Trevisan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kléber Salles saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Inter de São Paulo's Kléber Salles played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pedrão Souza in the 14th minute of play. Emerson Trevisan's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Kléber Salles read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 17th minute of play. Percival Prestes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pedro Donatello in the 26th minute of play. With a little luck, REAL VASCO RIO's Percival Prestes got control of the ball when Laércio Loureiro tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 29 minutes REAL VASCO RIO's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Marquinhos Botelho who took care of the corner kick. Laércio Loureiro could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 43rd minute of the match, but Percival Prestes made a huge save. Pedrão Souza charged in rather forcefully in the 44th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Pedrão Souza the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, REAL VASCO RIO's Pedrão Souza got a free kick in the 44th minute. Percival Prestes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Laércio Loureiro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-1 at half-time.
After a defensive mix-up in REAL VASCO RIO's zone, Laércio Loureiro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Percival Prestes came out of the goal and Laércio Loureiro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. REAL VASCO RIO's Emerson Trevisan got a good chance for a goal in the 57th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 61stth minute of the game Laércio Loureiro who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but REAL VASCO RIO's Percival Prestes was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After having played for 64 minutes, Milosz Korytkowski managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Inter de São Paulo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Milosz Korytkowski was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 68 minutes into the game, Inter de São Paulo's Laércio Loureiro nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Percival Prestes made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-1. After 70 minutes of play REAL VASCO RIO's José Pedro Simão was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. In the 71st minute, José Pedro Simão hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Percival Prestes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Laércio Loureiro in the 72nd minute of play. Percival Prestes stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Laércio Loureiro's shot from short distance in the 74th minute. 77 minutes into the match, REAL VASCO RIO's goal looked a bit too open when Pedro Donatello came free, but Percival Prestes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Percival Prestes was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. When the referee ended the match the Inter de São Paulo players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
