Amadeu Lamego made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kerry Sellers in the 9th minute of play. Kerry Sellers might have been able to make a better finish in the 10th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Amadeu Lamego. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Kerry Sellers ran back to his position shaking his head. SAO JOANENSE FC's Amadeu Lamego played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kerry Sellers in the 10th minute of play. Thanks to some nice moves Sidney Forbes could shoot a difficult shot in the 12th minute, which Amadeu Lamego however easily saved by the left post. C. A. Independiente's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Eric Snowden in the 14th minute. SAO JOANENSE FC's Amadeu Lamego played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kerry Sellers in the 16th minute of play. Jairo Dante received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. Farid Mondragón tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Kerry Sellers's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 21stth minute, Amadeu Lamego skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Claudio Marangoni took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 23rd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Amadeu Lamego. SAO JOANENSE FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Amadeu Lamego showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sidney Forbes, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. In the 27th minute, C. A. Independiente's Sidney Forbes ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Amadeu Lamego. Amadeu Lamego yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kerry Sellers in the 32nd minute of play forced SAO JOANENSE FC's goalkeeper Amadeu Lamego to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 33 played minutes C. A. Independiente got a freekick which was hit by Eric Snowden. Tommie Bolton who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 36thth minute tested the skills of Amadeu Lamego when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Amadeu Lamego made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kerry Sellers in the 38th minute of play. C. A. Independiente's Kerry Sellers got a good chance for a goal in the 43rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Tommie Bolton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Jairo Dante made a kick off. In the 52ndth minute of the game Tommie Bolton who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but SAO JOANENSE FC's Amadeu Lamego was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 53 minutes into the match, SAO JOANENSE FC's goal looked a bit too open when Kerry Sellers came free, but Amadeu Lamego reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Kerry Sellers blasted a shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Amadeu Lamego having to make a save. Amadeu Lamego showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kerry Sellers, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. Horácio Alcântara charged in rather forcefully in the 60th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Horácio Alcântara the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to SAO JOANENSE FC getting a freekick after 60 minutes play. Horácio Alcântara hit a great ball. In the 61st minute of the match Tommie Bolton shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Amadeu Lamego showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. With a little luck, C. A. Independiente's Farid Mondragón got control of the ball when Luisinho Netto tried to sneak it across the goal line. Amadeu Lamego stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Kerry Sellers's shot from short distance in the 64th minute. In the 67th minute of the match C. A. Independiente got a corner. SAO JOANENSE FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Tommie Bolton ran over to the corner to take the kick. A nice corner shot did that Tommie Bolton got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Amadeu Lamego quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 69thth minute of the game Tommie Bolton who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but SAO JOANENSE FC's Amadeu Lamego was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Amadeu Lamego didn't succeed to prevent the ball from going into goal when C. A. Independiente's Tommie Bolton shot an unexpected shot in the crossbar's under edge and made 2-0 in the ordered_time% minute. After 74 minutes of play, SAO JOANENSE FC's Horácio Alcântara made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Farid Mondragón was left in no man's land by his defense there! Kerry Sellers sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 77 minutes into the match, SAO JOANENSE FC's goal looked a bit too open when Kerry Sellers came free, but Amadeu Lamego reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Osmar França kicked well hit freekick during the 77th minute of the match. Farid Mondragón took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alessandro Meirelles, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Amadeu Lamego made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kerry Sellers in the 91st minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kerry Sellers in the 92nd minute of play forced SAO JOANENSE FC's goalkeeper Amadeu Lamego to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The C. A. Independiente support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
