The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Michel Shevchenko recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 2nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Generoso Erramu kicked well hit freekick during the 4th minute of the match. 14 minutes into the match, Teresópolis F.C's Michel Shevchenko sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Luís Islas narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After 15 minutes Las 3R Club De Fútbol's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Sandrinho Loyola who took care of the corner kick. Fred Viana received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Luís Islas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the match clock showed 21 minutes, the score became 0-2 when Michel Shevchenko sped through Las 3R Club De Fútbol's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Luís Islas. 26 minutes into the game, Teresópolis F.C's Michel Shevchenko nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Luís Islas made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-3. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Michel Shevchenko in the 29th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Luís Islas saved Las 3R Club De Fútbol from getting behind. In the 37th minute Michel Shevchenko shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luís Islas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 41 minutes Teresópolis F.C's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Enzo Scifo who took care of the corner kick. 45 minutes into the match, Teresópolis F.C's goal looked a bit too open when Enzo Scifo came free, but Velcho Rolanski reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The Las 3R Club De Fútbol players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Teresópolis F.C were winning 2-3.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Michel Shevchenko was the one to do the kick off. Michel Shevchenko sent away a hard shot on goal in the 51st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Michel Shevchenko in the 54th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Luís Islas saved Las 3R Club De Fútbol from getting behind. When Michel Shevchenko came up free with the goalie in the 58th minute, the Teresópolis F.C fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Michel Shevchenko couldn't finish the play. After having played for 61 minutes, Michel Shevchenko managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Teresópolis F.C's supporters crossed their fingers, but Michel Shevchenko was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Enzo Scifo kicked well hit freekick during the 66th minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Michel Shevchenko in the 69th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Luís Islas prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Luís Islas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Michel Shevchenko, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 73rd minute, Fred Viana reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Luís Islas. The goal made the score 2-4. Teresópolis F.C made a substitution. Andrézinho Maciel replaced Alan Baptista. Teresópolis F.C's Teodoro Prado was substituted for Jardel Messias. Carlos Otsoa hit a great freekick 88 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Michel Shevchenko in the 89th minute of play forced Las 3R Club De Fútbol's goalkeeper Luís Islas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
