Michael Näver was slow to take the kick. During this time Protegéerna's players had a chance to rest. Petter Skarkman might have been able to make a better finish in the 9th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Evert Mellberg. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Petter Skarkman ran back to his position shaking his head. The Lions's Evert Mellberg played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Petter Skarkman in the 9th minute of play. After some careless play in the The Lions defense, Petter Skarkman kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Evert Mellberg. The The Lions fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Evert Mellberg should have stopped the shot. Michael Näver ran over to the corner to take the kick. A well-hit corner resulted in Petter Skarkman heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. Protegéerna's attentive Cosme Demesio managed to snatch the ball when Tony Haegg made a throw-in in the 23rd minute of the game. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Petter Skarkman in the 25th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Evert Mellberg prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Arne Jonasson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Ingemar Åberg tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ingemar Åberg made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Iustin Braniște in the 31st minute of play. When Tony Haegg fell near the penalty area in the 37th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored The Lions's protests and gave Tony Haegg a yellow card for diving instead. In the 37th minute, Tony Haegg hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Evert Mellberg made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Michael Näver in the 38th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Petter Skarkman in the 52nd minute of play forced The Lions's goalkeeper Evert Mellberg to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Protegéerna's Michael Näver was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Evert Mellberg in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. 63 minutes into the match, Protegéerna's goal looked a bit too open when Gert Carlsson came free, but Ingemar Åberg reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The Lions were awarded a corner in the 64th minute after Protegéerna's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Stig-Ove Gustafsson took the corner. It was a well-played corner which Gert Carlsson managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. The Lions's Iustin Braniște got a good chance for a goal in the 66th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Protegéerna's Jonny Ånger was substituted for Yasen Súlov. Protegéerna made a substitution. Bo Låsberg replaced Fernando Arango. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Petter Skarkman in the 71st minute a chance for a shot on goal.
