After 5 minutes of play, La Gallardeta's Paolo Rossi made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Thomas Ravelli was left in no man's land by his defense there! 11 minutes into the game, La Gallardeta's Paolo Rossi nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Thomas Ravelli made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. The throw-in from Dalmacio Gartzea in the 14th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Skyborn FC's Jaime Estebano. Jonathan Burman sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Jonathan Burman could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 19th minute of the match, but Nacho Gonzalez made a huge save. Jim Nordlund charged in rather forcefully in the 24th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jim Nordlund the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 24th match minute, Skyborn FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jim Nordlund to maneuver through the defense. Rafael Haimar received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Thomas Ravelli tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of La Gallardeta booed when Skyborn FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bertil Jansson didn't get a good kick on the ball. Rafael Haimar fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Thomas Ravelli having to interfere. Jonathan Burman blasted a shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Nacho Gonzalez having to make a save. After 33 played minutes Skyborn FC got a freekick which was hit by Bertil Jansson. Jonathan Burman might have been able to make a better finish in the 37th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Nacho Gonzalez. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jonathan Burman ran back to his position shaking his head. With a little luck, La Gallardeta's Nacho Gonzalez got control of the ball when Jonathan Burman tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Skyborn FC's zone, Paolo Rossi stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Thomas Ravelli came out of the goal and Paolo Rossi tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After the first half La Gallardeta were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

La Gallardeta made a substitution. Amado Chayo replaced Attilio Stefano. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Bertil Jansson to make the kick off. 52 minutes into the match, Skyborn FC's goal looked a bit too open when Paolo Rossi came free, but Thomas Ravelli reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Paolo Rossi could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 55th minute of the match, but Thomas Ravelli made a huge save. With his leg Thomas Ravelli managed to avoid a goal in the 58thth minute, when La Gallardeta's Paolo Rossi fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Jonathan Burman might have been able to make a better finish in the 60th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Nacho Gonzalez. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jonathan Burman ran back to his position shaking his head. Nacho Gonzalez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jonathan Burman, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. La Gallardeta made a substitution. Esteban Leizarraga replaced Anacleto Primo. The supporters of Skyborn FC booed when La Gallardeta was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 74 match minutes in a wonderful position. Anacleto Primo didn't get a good kick on the ball. 76 minutes into the match, Skyborn FC's goalkeeper Thomas Ravelli had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Fernando Dantae. After a rather tough play, La Gallardeta's Teodoro Delfino got a free kick in the 78th minute. A collision led to La Gallardeta getting a freekick after 79 minutes play. Teodoro Delfino hit a great ball. After 82 played minutes Skyborn FC got a freekick which was hit by Allan Vassenius. 85 minutes into the game, Teodoro Delfino was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. La Gallardeta's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Skyborn FC the free kick. The supporters of Skyborn FC booed when La Gallardeta was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 85 match minutes in a wonderful position. Teodoro Delfino didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thomas Ravelli made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rafael Haimar in the 87th minute of play. When Skyborn FC's Jonathan Burman in the 92nd minute got a chance for a shot 92nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye La Gallardeta's goalie prevented a goal.
