Esporte Club Bahia's Jefferson Prado played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Grigoriy Melnichenko in the 4th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Esporte Club Bahia's zone, Grigoriy Melnichenko stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jefferson Prado came out of the goal and Grigoriy Melnichenko tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With a little luck, Esporte Club Bahia's Jefferson Prado got control of the ball when Grigoriy Melnichenko tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 10th minute Luiz Gustavo Paes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Péter Kun saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luiz Gustavo Paes in the 16th minute of play forced Bayern München FC.'s goalkeeper Péter Kun to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 18th minute, Bayern München FC.'s Grigoriy Melnichenko dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. Péter Kun took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Viggo Lidström, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A hard shot 22 in the game by Grigoriy Melnichenko from a close distance when the talented Jefferson Prado managed to make a qualified save. Esporte Club Bahia's players were relieved. Lauro Carneiro struck a weak shot in the 24th minute. Péter Kun didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Esporte Club Bahia. In the 28th minute of the match Robin Bäcklin shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Jefferson Prado showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Grigoriy Melnichenko sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jefferson Prado made a fantastic save in the 44th minute, when Grigoriy Melnichenko sent off a good shot on target. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Viggo Lidström stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Yuri de Souza hit a great freekick 51 minutes into the match. Jefferson Prado showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Grigoriy Melnichenko, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. In the 58th minute, Régis Vander got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Grigoriy Melnichenko recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 64th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Grigoriy Melnichenko took the ball and in the 69 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Jefferson Prado. Jefferson Prado dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-0. Jefferson Prado showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Grigoriy Melnichenko, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute. Jefferson Prado took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Grigoriy Melnichenko, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 85th minute of the match, Luiz Gustavo Paes tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Péter Kun saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. In the 91st minute, Grigoriy Melnichenko got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 95 minutes into the game, András Törőcsik cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-0. Jefferson Prado was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Bayern München FC. were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest.
