After having played for 18 minutes, Stu Hislop managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Leicester Lions's supporters crossed their fingers, but Stu Hislop was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Marcel Mallinger took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lucas Darling, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 21st minute, Justus Sandkühler hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Pierre Van den Plas came free with the goalkeeper in the 23rd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Grant Blacknell could save by the left post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Anfilogino Alfonsi in the 23rd minute of play forced Leicester Lions's goalkeeper Grant Blacknell to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 25th minute Camron Rhodes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marcel Mallinger saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Stu Hislop fell near the penalty area in the 32nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Leicester Lions's protests and gave Stu Hislop a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of FV Wienerwald booed when Leicester Lions was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Stu Hislop didn't get a good kick on the ball. 34 minutes into the match, Pierre Van den Plas had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Grant Blacknell. Leicester Lions's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Pierre Van den Plas was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. Grant Blacknell made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ralf Szüczs in the 38th minute of play. When the match had gone on for 42 minutes, Ralf Szüczs took a quick shot and it went in 3-0 without a chance for Grant Blacknell to make any attempt to save it. In the 47th minute Lucas Darling shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marcel Mallinger saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Anfilogino Alfonsi stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Steffen Eisenheld in the 55th minute of play forced Leicester Lions's goalkeeper Grant Blacknell to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of FV Wienerwald booed when Leicester Lions was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. Stu Hislop didn't get a good kick on the ball. Leicester Lions's Alexander Cheetham was substituted for Michal Budzyn. 92 minutes into the match, Leicester Lions's goal looked a bit too open when Per Nienhaus came free, but Grant Blacknell reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
