The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 4th minute the ball was on its way in behind Esmeralda AFC's goalkeeper Jorge Armani, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Playa Malvín's Zé Roberto Teixeira played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eloy Calvino in the 6th minute of play. Fred Åkerström took the ball and in the 10 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Jorge Armani. Jorge Armani dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. 13 minutes into the match, Fred Åkerström had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jorge Armani. Esmeralda AFC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Fred Åkerström was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. After 17 played minutes Playa Malvín got a freekick which was hit by Sesuldo Roque. David Banegas could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 20th minute of the match, but Zé Roberto Teixeira made a huge save. Zé Roberto Teixeira made an important save on a dangerous shot by David Banegas in the 21st minute. In the 21st minute, Esmeralda AFC's David Banegas ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Zé Roberto Teixeira. Zé Roberto Teixeira yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-2. Zé Roberto Teixeira showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Andrew Dalli in the 26th minute of the match. In the 28th match minute, Playa Malvín was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gamus Rocha to maneuver through the defense. In the 29th minute Eloy Calvino shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zé Roberto Teixeira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Zé Roberto Teixeira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Andrew Dalli in the 32nd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fred Åkerström in the 46th minute of play forced Esmeralda AFC's goalkeeper Jorge Armani to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Andrew Dalli made the kick off in the second half. If Sebastian Tauro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Zé Roberto Teixeira showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eloy Calvino in the 55th minute of the match. 57 minutes into the match, Playa Malvín's goal looked a bit too open when David Banegas came free, but Zé Roberto Teixeira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jorge Armani showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fred Åkerström, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. Niva Espellosa took the ball and in the 70 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Jorge Armani. Jorge Armani dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-4. Jorge Armani took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Niva Espellosa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jorge Armani stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Niva Espellosa's shot from short distance in the 79th minute. Zé Roberto Teixeira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Andrew Dalli, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. Jorge Armani took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Niva Espellosa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Esmeralda AFC's Jorge Armani played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Niva Espellosa in the 82nd minute of play. Niva Espellosa might have been able to make a better finish in the 84th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jorge Armani. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Niva Espellosa ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 85th minute of the match, Niva Espellosa tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Jorge Armani saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Jorge Armani was out of position in the 89 minute of play, and Niva Espellosa capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Niva Espellosa really showed his touch with that goal: 1-5. Jorge Armani didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Niva Espellosa went, in the 94th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-6 was the resulting score. The Playa Malvín players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
