In the 18th minute, Zeledon Savion ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Joar Scheie was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. Fulgencio Eyague took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sven-Olof Vestlund, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Joar Scheie stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Rodion Nikitin's shot from short distance in the 44th minute. In the 47th minute Sven-Olof Vestlund shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fulgencio Eyague saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Aristide Ciuvică stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 2-3 became the score in the 55th minute when Rodion Nikitin elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. In the 58th minute Zeledon Savion shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joar Scheie saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 60th minute, Sven-Olof Vestlund managed to get in a good position for a shot. CAN ERZURUM's supporters rose to their feet, but Sven-Olof Vestlund was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Fulgencio Eyague breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. AC LeX Luthor's Pedro Lucas was substituted for Zeledon Savion. CAN ERZURUM's Seyhun Orus was substituted for Hüsrev Özyay. AC LeX Luthor were awarded a corner in the 66th minute after CAN ERZURUM's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Gelu Ioniță took the corner. Gelu Ioniță was slow to take the kick. During this time AC LeX Luthor's players had a chance to rest. With an all-out effort, AC LeX Luthor's Joar Scheie threw himself towards the right post 80 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Peep Pronk, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Peep Pronk's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Joar Scheie read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 95th minute of play. AC LeX Luthor's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
