Xiao Ping Nan could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 47th minute of the match, but Sonny Alén made a huge save. The The Dalwhinnie Boys players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. La Cosa Nostra were winning 1-4.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Håkan Šuker to make the kick off. One of The Dalwhinnie Boys:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of La Cosa Nostra:s goal. The referee gave La Cosa Nostra a penalty, 76 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Elias Millrick, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of The Dalwhinnie Boys's Harm Rooy. 1-7. 81 minutes into the match, La Cosa Nostra's goal looked a bit too open when Xiao Ping Nan came free, but Sonny Alén reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in The Dalwhinnie Boys's zone, Maurício Mansilha stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Harm Rooy came out of the goal and Maurício Mansilha tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Harm Rooy made a fantastic save in the 93rd minute, when Maurício Mansilha sent off a good shot on target. Agnaldo Reis hit a great freekick 98 minutes into the match. The La Cosa Nostra supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing La Cosa Nostra would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
