Jung 1972's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Villaverde Celeste Clube the free kick. After 6 played minutes Jung 1972 got a freekick which was hit by Franklin Trigo. Lisandro Ihintza showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Roy Makaay in the 17th minute of the match. Roy Makaay recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 19th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Roy Makaay blasted a shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Lisandro Ihintza having to make a save. Lisandro Ihintza showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Roy Makaay in the 23rd minute of the match. After some careless play in the Jung 1972 defense, Guo Ao kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Lisandro Ihintza. The Jung 1972 fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Lisandro Ihintza should have stopped the shot. After 29 played minutes, Villaverde Celeste Clube's Luís Paulo Carneiro shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Lisandro Ihintza came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Villaverde Celeste Clube reached it. When Ali Toral fell near the penalty area in the 30th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Jung 1972's protests and gave Ali Toral a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Jung 1972 getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Ali Toral hit a great ball. Lisandro Ihintza made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Armandinho Xavier in the 32nd minute of play. Roy Makaay received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Lisandro Ihintza tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Roy Makaay in the 39th minute of play forced Jung 1972's goalkeeper Lisandro Ihintza to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 40th minute, Dino Manfredi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some careless play in the Jung 1972 defense, Roy Makaay kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Lisandro Ihintza. The Jung 1972 fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Lisandro Ihintza should have stopped the shot. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Osvaldinho de Senna to make the kick off. Lisandro Ihintza showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Roy Makaay in the 52nd minute of the match. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jung 1972 made a substitution. Adriano Amorim replaced Ceferino Ranolfo. Lisandro Ihintza showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Roy Makaay, who was totally free with the ball in the 66th minute. 67 minutes had been played when some careless play by Jung 1972's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Guo Ao was slow to take the kick. During this time Villaverde Celeste Clube's players had a chance to rest. In the 77th minute of the game Mathias Catarinense made a throw-in which Ali Toral played forward. In the 79th minute Roy Makaay shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lisandro Ihintza saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sérgio Maia in the 87th minute of play forced Villaverde Celeste Clube's goalkeeper Nenko Reza to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Franklin Trigo got his second yellow card in the match during the 88th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. The supporters of Villaverde Celeste Clube booed when Jung 1972 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 88 match minutes in a wonderful position. Franklin Trigo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Roy Makaay blasted a shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Lisandro Ihintza having to make a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Roy Makaay in the 90th minute of play forced Jung 1972's goalkeeper Lisandro Ihintza to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the Villaverde Celeste Clube defense, Sérgio Maia kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Nenko Reza. The Villaverde Celeste Clube fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Nenko Reza should have stopped the shot. The Jung 1972 supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Villaverde Celeste Clube's performance. The match ended with a win for Villaverde Celeste Clube.
