The audience was convinced that Claudemiro Fragoso's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Apolo Larrañaga was relentless in the 26th minute of the game. Apolo Larrañaga showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Claudemiro Fragoso, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. In the 45th minute, Claudemiro Fragoso made a precise shot to the right of Apolo Larrañaga. Talcampeón FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-3. After the first half Sport Club Mavericks were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Rainerio Huidobro made a kick off. 50 minutes in the game Jose Maria Letelier did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to José Francisco Maffey. In the 51st minute, Rainerio Huidobro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Sport Club Mavericks's Conrado Sanches quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Jose Maria Letelier, made in the 53rd minute of the game. Apolo Larrañaga was a little too slow when Serafim Toledo got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 54th minute. The score was now 0-4. Sport Club Mavericks made a substitution. Sílvio Luiz de Godoi replaced Jairo Bastos. Hélio Nascimento might have been able to make a better finish in the 66th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Apolo Larrañaga. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Elder Arantes hit a great freekick 88 minutes into the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Jose Maria Letelier during the 91st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card.
