The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Diguinho Carioca was out of position in the 74 minute of play, and Niceto Ihazintu capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Niceto Ihazintu really showed his touch with that goal: 0-1. Caatiba MZC made a substitution. Nuno Mattos replaced Niceto Ihazintu. The crowd rose to their feet as Nuno Mattos kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Diguinho Carioca. That made the score 0-3 in the 88 minute of play. In the 91st minute, Clayton Clayton hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Diguinho Carioca showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nuno Mattos, who was totally free with the ball in the 93rd minute. If Nuno Mattos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. With a little luck, C o n f i a n ç a - SE's Diguinho Carioca got control of the ball when Nuno Mattos tried to sneak it across the goal line. When the final whistle sounded Caatiba MZC left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than C o n f i a n ç a - SE.
