Adelino Coelho made a fantastic save in the 7th minute, when José Maria Leão sent off a good shot on target. 16 minutes into the match, SC Braga's goalkeeper Adelino Coelho had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Henrique Alvarenga. 19 minutes into the match, SC Braga's goal looked a bit too open when José Maria Leão came free, but Adelino Coelho reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Adelino Coelho took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Henrique Alvarenga, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to SC Braga getting a freekick after 27 minutes play. Sabino Setúbal hit a great ball. In the 34th match minute, Atlético Capixaba was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fernandinho Barreto to maneuver through the defense. In the 40th minute, Henrique Alvarenga got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Leal Antas made a kick off. In the 57th minute Ricardo Vasques shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jean Schmidt saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 60 minutes of play, Atlético Capixaba's Cafu Berger made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Adelino Coelho was left in no man's land by his defense there! Atlético Capixaba's Marcos Messias was substituted for Aílton Branco. In the 66th minute Cafu Berger shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Adelino Coelho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Adelino Coelho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from José Maria Leão in the 69th minute of play. In the 74th match minute, Atlético Capixaba was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dário Leme to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ricardo Vasques in the 80th minute of play forced Atlético Capixaba's goalkeeper Jean Schmidt to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Adelino Coelho showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from José Maria Leão in the 83rd minute of the match. The supporters of SC Braga booed when Atlético Capixaba was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 83 match minutes in a wonderful position. Silas Melo didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by José Maria Leão in the 93rd minute of play forced SC Braga's goalkeeper Adelino Coelho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 93 minutes, Francisco Bettencourt mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the SC Braga and the Atlético Capixaba players grew even worse after the yellow card. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Atlético Capixaba had won after a very even match.
