Efren Viscarra hit a great freekick 2 minutes into the match. In the 3rd minute, Nelsinho Marinho got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 10 minutes into the match, Zé Orella notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of GuateFortín's Arturo Pinho. Arturo Pinho was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 16th minute, Doni Pimenta hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Cesar Sanchez took the ball and in the 22 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Antônio Carlos Cavalcante. Antônio Carlos Cavalcante dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. After 36 played minutes GuateFortín got a freekick which was hit by Carmelo Sandoval. 39 minutes into the match, GuateFortín's goal looked a bit too open when Nelsinho Marinho came free, but Arturo Pinho reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 48 minutes into the match, Ronaldo Pirani notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of GuateFortín's Arturo Pinho. Arturo Pinho was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Nelsinho Marinho to strike the kick off in the second half. Nelsinho Marinho's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 59thth minute, Arturo Pinho skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. In the 63rd match minute, Palestra do Interior was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ronaldo Pirani to maneuver through the defense. GuateFortín's Ricardo Mora was substituted for Danilo Viscarra. GuateFortín made a substitution. David Melendez replaced Jorge Valenzuela. After 64 played minutes Palestra do Interior got a freekick which was hit by Ronaldo Pirani. The supporters of Palestra do Interior booed when GuateFortín was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 65 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ricardo Mora didn't get a good kick on the ball. 68 minutes into the match, GuateFortín's goal looked a bit too open when Zé Orella came free, but Arturo Pinho reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Marcelo Quijada kicked well hit freekick during the 70th minute of the match. Palestra do Interior's Nelsinho Marinho saw an opening behind the goalie Arturo Pinho in the 72ndth minute and tried to shoot past into the top right corner, but with great reflexes Arturo Pinho with one arm managed to save the shot in the last secound. Palestra do Interior's Antônio Carlos Cavalcante played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marcelo Quijada in the 75th minute of play. When Leonel Jimenez fell near the penalty area in the 82nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored GuateFortín's protests and gave Leonel Jimenez a yellow card for diving instead. Nelsinho Marinho walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. Palestra do Interior's Zé Orella got a good chance for a goal in the 87th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 92nd minute Ronaldo Pirani shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arturo Pinho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In a very dangerous position, a player in GuateFortín fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 94th minute. Penalty! The goalkeeper, Arturo Pinho, was totally fooled by Palestra do Interior's Nelsinho Marinho, who 96 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. After having played for 99 minutes, Nelsinho Marinho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Palestra do Interior's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nelsinho Marinho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When the final whistle sounded Palestra do Interior left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than GuateFortín.
