In the 20th minute Ricardo Mora shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wilfredo Mikelar saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gaston Aztore's late challenge caught a GuateFortín's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Gaston Aztore helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of GuateFortín booed when Torbellino was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gaston Aztore didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 21st minute of the match Ricardo Mora shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Wilfredo Mikelar showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After a rather tough play, Torbellino's Gonza Bustillo got a free kick in the 22nd minute. Efren Viscarra hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. In the 25th minute, Ovidio Lucian got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Carmelo Sandoval came up free with the goalie in the 36th minute, the GuateFortín fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Carmelo Sandoval couldn't finish the play. After having played for 45 minutes, Marcelo Quijada managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. GuateFortín's supporters crossed their fingers, but Marcelo Quijada was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 47 minutes into the match, GuateFortín's goalkeeper Arturo Pinho had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Mauricio Cordarell. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

53 minutes into the game, GuateFortín's Carmelo Sandoval nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Wilfredo Mikelar made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. 58 minutes into the game, Jorge Valenzuela was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. GuateFortín's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Torbellino the free kick. In the 58th minute, Jorge Valenzuela hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Arturo Pinho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gaston Aztore in the 61st minute of play. After 63 played minutes Torbellino got a freekick which was hit by Gonza Bustillo. GuateFortín made a substitution. Leonel Jimenez replaced Jorge Valenzuela. Leonel Jimenez received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Wilfredo Mikelar tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Leonel Jimenez during the 75th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 81st minute, Gaston Aztore made a precise shot to the right of Arturo Pinho. GuateFortín's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. Wilfredo Mikelar was a little too slow when Dennys Erazo got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 87th minute. The score was now 1-2. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. GuateFortín walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
