The supporters of Surahammar booed when FC Zenit Saint Petersburg was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 2 match minutes in a wonderful position. Johannes Botvidsson didn't get a good kick on the ball. Charles Forsman hit a great freekick 4 minutes into the match. In the 10thth minute of the game Radamel Oakley who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but FC Zenit Saint Petersburg's Zafer Hürsel was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Carl Engström made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Peter Snell in the 13th minute of play. In the 16th minute, Peter Snell ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Carl Engström was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. FC Zenit Saint Petersburg's Zafer Hürsel proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 18th minute of the match, managed to save FC Zenit Saint Petersburg from getting a goal against them. 22 minutes into the match, FC Zenit Saint Petersburg's goal looked a bit too open when Radamel Oakley came free, but Zafer Hürsel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Carl Engström took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Håkan Kjellman, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Zafer Hürsel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Toninho Lara, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. Vincent Benett kicked well hit freekick during the 47th minute of the match. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Håkan Kjellman made a kick off. Victor Santxol received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 59th minute. Zafer Hürsel tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 61 played minutes Surahammar got a freekick which was hit by Adrian Kodzhabashev. In the 70th minute Radamel Oakley shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zafer Hürsel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Radamel Oakley in the 70th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Zafer Hürsel saved FC Zenit Saint Petersburg from getting behind. Håkan Kjellman sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 78 played minutes FC Zenit Saint Petersburg got a freekick which was hit by Charles Forsman. An unexpectedly hard shot by Radamel Oakley in the 79th minute of play forced FC Zenit Saint Petersburg's goalkeeper Zafer Hürsel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 84 minutes of play, FC Zenit Saint Petersburg's Valentin Ivarsson made it 2-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Carl Engström was left in no man's land by his defense there! The throw-in from Charles Forsman in the 92nd minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Surahammar's Markus Wallman. FC Zenit Saint Petersburg were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
