Dida Taffarel came out of the goal in the 6th minute to try and stop a shot by Parque Europa FC's Froilan Reyes. But to his dismay, Froilan Reyes quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rogelio Mendiola in the 11th minute of play forced Marquês de Herval's goalkeeper Dida Taffarel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 12 minutes into the match, Marquês de Herval's goal looked a bit too open when Froilan Reyes came free, but Dida Taffarel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nestor Paraibano in the 14th minute of play forced Parque Europa FC's goalkeeper Luis Täger to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Dida Taffarel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Froilan Reyes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 16 played minutes Marquês de Herval got a freekick which was hit by Acácio Cunha. After 18 minutes of play, Parque Europa FC's Froilan Reyes made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Dida Taffarel was left in no man's land by his defense there! Alfredo Martins's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Luis Täger read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 23rd minute of play. 24 minutes into the game, Froilan Reyes cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-3. Dida Taffarel was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 34th minute, Froilan Reyes ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Dida Taffarel was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-4. With a little luck, Parque Europa FC's Luis Täger got control of the ball when German Cano tried to sneak it across the goal line. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-4.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Froilan Reyes to make the kick off. Dida Taffarel made an important save on a dangerous shot by Froilan Reyes in the 51st minute. Luis Täger showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from German Cano in the 54th minute of the match. Parque Europa FC's Murphey Shipman was substituted for Rogelio Mendiola. Dida Taffarel stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Miliano Babia's shot from short distance in the 63rd minute. In the 65th minute of the match Parque Europa FC got a corner. Marquês de Herval's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Samuel Ryynänen ran over to the corner to take the kick. Samuel Ryynänen made a great header on Parque Europa FC's corner, it was just that Marquês de Herval's Dida Taffarel managed to reach the ball for a save. A collision led to Marquês de Herval getting a freekick after 67 minutes play. Selami Rezan hit a great ball. Luis Täger made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alfredo Martins in the 70th minute of play. Dida Taffarel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Miliano Babia, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 77th match minute, Marquês de Herval was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by German Cano to maneuver through the defense. 80 minutes into the match, Marquês de Herval's goal looked a bit too open when Miliano Babia came free, but Dida Taffarel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Dida Taffarel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Miliano Babia, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The crowd rose to their feet as Miliano Babia kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Dida Taffarel. That made the score 1-5 in the 83 minute of play. Dida Taffarel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Murphey Shipman in the 88th minute of the match. Dida Taffarel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Miliano Babia, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 93rd minute, Nestor Paraibano ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Luis Täger was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-5. Dida Taffarel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Coronel Castro in the 95th minute of the match. Marquês de Herval's Murilo Hoffmann was substituted for Alfredo Martins. When the match had been going on for 98 minutes, Parque Europa FC's Miliano Babia got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Dida Taffarel. Parque Europa FC's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
