The audience thought a goal was coming when Romulo Casado got free with Higinio Eutropio in the 8th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 12th match minute, Alberdi de América was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Anak Wolf to maneuver through the defense. In the 15th minute of the match Yin Fan Ning shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Genaro Quiroga showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After 15 played minutes Yin Fan Ning shot from long distance. At first the shot seemed to be simple for River Plate's Genaro Quiroga to catch but Yin Fan Ning was lucky. It became 0-1 after the goalkeeper had been careless and dropped the ball into goal. With a little luck, Alberdi de América's Higinio Eutropio got control of the ball when Romulo Casado tried to sneak it across the goal line. Mauricio Tiniebra made a great header on River Plate's corner, it was just that Alberdi de América's Higinio Eutropio managed to reach the ball for a save. Romulo Casado ran back to his position shaking his head. After 44 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Alberdi de América! The River Plate players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Alberdi de América were winning 1-2.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Ivica Olić stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 53 minutes into the game, Aleksander Majczyk cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-3. Genaro Quiroga was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. A hard shot by Yin Fan Ning from long distance, 56 minutes into the match, got Genaro Quiroga's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Thanks to some nice moves Aleksander Majczyk could shoot a difficult shot in the 62nd minute, which Genaro Quiroga however easily saved by the left post. In the 65th match minute, Alberdi de América was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ivica Olić to maneuver through the defense. River Plate's Nemesio Azeari was substituted for Erik Albuquerque. River Plate made a substitution. Henrikh Vartanyan replaced Mauricio Tiniebra. Ivica Olić kicked well hit freekick during the 67th minute of the match. Henrikh Vartanyan hit a great ball. Genaro Quiroga took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Inocencio Paez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Romulo Casado came up free with the goalie in the 82nd minute, the River Plate fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Romulo Casado couldn't finish the play. 84 minutes into the match, Alberdi de América's goal looked a bit too open when Romulo Casado came free, but Higinio Eutropio reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Romulo Casado in the 85th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Higinio Eutropio prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The audience was convinced that Romulo Casado's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Higinio Eutropio was relentless in the 89th minute of the game. After 93 minutes of play, River Plate's Romulo Casado made it 3-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Higinio Eutropio was left in no man's land by his defense there! Alberdi de América were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
