Genaro Quiroga took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from 武光星, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Genaro Quiroga stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of 武光星's shot from short distance in the 30th minute. Amund Stålesen kicked well hit freekick during the 42nd minute of the match. In the 46th minute, River Plate's Romulo Casado dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for 武光星 to strike the kick off in the second half. 54 minutes into the match, River Plate's goal looked a bit too open when Pedrinho Falconetti came free, but Genaro Quiroga reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of River Plate booed when Cacerola was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pedrinho Falconetti didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the referee blew the final whistle, River Plate could leave the field as winners, despite Cacerola having more of the ball for most of the match.
