In the 22nd minute of the match, Graciano Fraga tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Adolfo Lohitzun saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Graciano Fraga took the ball and in the 22 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Adolfo Lohitzun. Adolfo Lohitzun dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. After 24 played minutes AYACUCHO FUTBOL CLUB got a freekick which was hit by Sadettin Okkan. In the 25th minute, Lionel-Andrés Messi got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Pascual Bermudez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Leandro Paredes in the 28th minute of play. 29 minutes into the match, Pompiliu Corcoveanu had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Adolfo Lohitzun. La Scaloneta's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Pompiliu Corcoveanu was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. Roman Bautista recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 31st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 33rd minute Leandro Paredes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pascual Bermudez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Pompiliu Corcoveanu came up free with the goalie in the 35th minute, the AYACUCHO FUTBOL CLUB fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Pompiliu Corcoveanu couldn't finish the play. Adolfo Lohitzun took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Graciano Fraga, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 45 minutes, Alexis MacAlister mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the La Scaloneta and the AYACUCHO FUTBOL CLUB players grew even worse after the yellow card. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Lautaro Martinez to make the kick off. The audience thought a goal was coming when Lautaro Martinez got free with Pascual Bermudez in the 51st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 60 played minutes La Scaloneta got a freekick which was hit by Marcos Acuña. With an all-out effort, La Scaloneta's Pascual Bermudez threw himself towards the right post 63 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Lionel-Andrés Messi, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. 64 minutes into the match, La Scaloneta's goal looked a bit too open when Graciano Fraga came free, but Adolfo Lohitzun reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Pascual Bermudez made an important save on a dangerous shot by Leandro Paredes in the 67th minute. After 70 played minutes La Scaloneta got a freekick which was hit by Giovani Lo Celso. Giovani Lo Celso hit a great freekick 71 minutes into the match. Guido Quirze sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 73rd minute, Lionel-Andrés Messi ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Pascual Bermudez was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. The supporters of AYACUCHO FUTBOL CLUB booed when La Scaloneta was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Enzo Fernández didn't get a good kick on the ball.
