Ascacibar-Pérez's Einar Holmberg played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Emanuel Bergfelt in the 4th minute of play. If Emanuel Bergfelt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Einar Holmberg stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Enzo Gora's shot from short distance in the 11th minute. After 12 minutes Ascacibar-Pérez's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Enzo Gora who took care of the corner kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Emanuel Bergfelt in the 18th minute of play forced Ascacibar-Pérez's goalkeeper Einar Holmberg to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Lisandro Loreto received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Einar Holmberg tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 30th minute, Forest Green's Jem Jajecznica dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. Domingos Dolcet showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Martín Palermo, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. Domingos Dolcet didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Martín Palermo went, in the 35th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. Einar Holmberg made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Emanuel Bergfelt in the 40th minute of play. 42 minutes into the match, Ascacibar-Pérez's goal looked a bit too open when Emanuel Bergfelt came free, but Einar Holmberg reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Ascacibar-Pérez getting a freekick after 44 minutes play. Erubiel Dalmu hit a great ball. After 47 minutes of play, Ascacibar-Pérez's Martín Palermo made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Domingos Dolcet was left in no man's land by his defense there! The Forest Green players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Ascacibar-Pérez were winning 1-2.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jem Jajecznica was the one to do the kick off. The tension between the Ascacibar-Pérez and the Forest Green players grew even worse after the yellow card.
