Ernesto Poncio's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Silvio Bazil read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 8th minute of play. In the 10th minute Robin Wallgren shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Venancio Cesario saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ernesto Poncio to make the kick off. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Orlando Lizardi in the 67th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Silvio Bazil saved Martin Palermo F.C. from getting behind. Yofré AFC were awarded a corner in the 69th minute after Martin Palermo F.C.'s defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Denis Ibañez took the corner. If Mateo Messi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Silvio Bazil stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ernesto Poncio's shot from short distance in the 76th minute. In the 77th minute Yofré AFC were awarded a corner. Blas Blasi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Silvio Bazil having to interfere. Yofré AFC's Matias Preto was substituted for Ernesto Poncio. After 86 minutes Martin Palermo F.C.'s defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Denis Ibañez who took care of the corner kick. It was a well-played corner which Orlando Lizardi managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. Yofré AFC's defense didn't have a chance, in the 90th minute, when Enrico Giammarino scored to the left of an out of position Venancio Cesario, making the score, 1-2. 92 minutes into the match, Martin Palermo F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Esteban Ostargi came free, but Silvio Bazil reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Yofré AFC's Esteban Ostargi got a good chance for a goal in the 93rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Orlando Lizardi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Martin Palermo F.C. walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
