In the 5th minute, Silvano Hartz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fermin Etxeberri in the 6th minute of play forced Bonnement's goalkeeper Lino Lordi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Lino Lordi stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Fermin Etxeberri's shot from short distance in the 11th minute. After having played for 12 minutes, Enzo Haritz managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Newell´s's supporters crossed their fingers, but Enzo Haritz was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Lino Lordi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fermin Etxeberri in the 14th minute of the match. 18 minutes into the match, Marcos Giraldo notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Bonnement's Lino Lordi. Lino Lordi was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Newell´s's Fermin Etxeberri got a good chance for a goal in the 24th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fermin Etxeberri in the 24th minute of play forced Bonnement's goalkeeper Lino Lordi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Fermin Etxeberri came up free with the goalie in the 25th minute, the Newell´s fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fermin Etxeberri couldn't finish the play. Bohuslav Sedlařík kicked well hit freekick during the 27th minute of the match. The supporters of Bonnement booed when Newell´s was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bohuslav Sedlařík didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 34th minute, Fermin Etxeberri made a precise shot to the right of Lino Lordi. Bonnement's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. Newell´s's Fermin Etxeberri got a good chance for a goal in the 38th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 39th minute Fermin Etxeberri suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. After 39 minutes, Gaston Urtzi mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Bonnement and the Newell´s players grew even worse after the yellow card. Newell´s made a substitution. Cleto Laffitte replaced Fermin Etxeberri. A collision led to Bonnement getting a freekick after 41 minutes play. Gaston Urtzi hit a great ball. Lino Lordi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marcos Giraldo in the 42nd minute of play. In the 44th minute Cleto Laffitte shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lino Lordi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Newell´s's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Marcos Giraldo in the 45th minute. It was a well-played corner which Cleto Laffitte managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand.

In the 51st match minute, Bonnement was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Roman Tulio to maneuver through the defense. Bonnement's Lino Lordi proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 52nd minute of the match, managed to save Bonnement from getting a goal against them. If Cleto Laffitte had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 57th minute Cleto Laffitte shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lino Lordi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Newell´s made a substitution. Alejandro Sabella replaced Jose Montez. Bonnement's Lino Lordi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Andrej Golota in the 65th minute of play. Bohuslav Sedlařík made in the 67th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Sungurbey Eraslan immediately put the ball in play. After a rather tough play, Bonnement's Anier Arce got a free kick in the 68th minute. 69 minutes into the game, Newell´s's Andrej Golota nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Lino Lordi made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-4. Bonnement's defense didn't have a chance, in the 72nd minute, when Andrej Golota scored to the left of an out of position Lino Lordi, making the score, 0-5. Lino Lordi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Andrej Golota in the 75th minute of play. 76 minutes in the game, the ball went up into the seats when Newell´s's Andrej Golota fired away a shot that was just a little bit too high. He walked away shaking his head. After 77 played minutes Bonnement got a freekick which was hit by Gaston Urtzi. A hard shot by Marcos Giraldo from long distance, 78 minutes into the match, got Lino Lordi's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. In the 79th minute, Andrej Golota ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Lino Lordi was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-6. Lino Lordi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Andrej Golota, who was totally free with the ball in the 85th minute. Newell´s played a much better game than Bonnement and deserved their victory. The Bonnement players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
