An unexpectedly hard shot by Karol Drab in the 3rd minute of play forced Club Atlético River Plate's goalkeeper Aquilino Roldanillo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 4 minutes into the game, Club Atlético River Plate's Aristides Artizar nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Podador Zumaeta made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. When Horacio Guillerme in the 9th play minute got the chance to kick a hard shot on goal from short distance neither the defense or Aquilino Roldanillo kept up with the ball and suddenly the score was 1-1 when the ball slipped into goal inside the left pole. With an all-out effort, Inter MIAMI's Aquilino Roldanillo threw himself towards the right post 13 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Horacio Guillerme, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Roberto Rafe could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 15th minute of the match, but Aquilino Roldanillo made a huge save. In the 16th minute Candido Matai shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aquilino Roldanillo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 17th minute Inter MIAMI were awarded a corner. Modesto Malvin went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Club Atlético River Plate's goalie and right to Candido Matai. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Club Atlético River Plate's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. Aquilino Justin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Aquilino Roldanillo came out of the goal in the 22nd minute to try and stop a shot by Inter MIAMI's Candido Matai. But to his dismay, Candido Matai quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. Roberto Rafe sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Aquilino Roldanillo made a fantastic save in the 40th minute, when Roberto Rafe sent off a good shot on target. If Roberto Rafe had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 46th minute, Candido Matai made a precise shot to the right of Aquilino Roldanillo. Club Atlético River Plate's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-1. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Horacio Guillerme made the kick off in the second half. Roberto Rafe received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. Aquilino Roldanillo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 54th match minute, Club Atlético River Plate was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Aristides Artizar to maneuver through the defense. In the 60th minute Aristides Artizar shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Podador Zumaeta saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 5-1 became the score in the 62nd minute when Roberto Rafe elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Club Atlético River Plate's Nicasio Jaizki was substituted for Andres Ramone. Club Atlético River Plate made a substitution. Salvador Arnas replaced Simon Castel. Aquilino Roldanillo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Roberto Rafe in the 86th minute of the match. Roberto Rafe sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the match had gone on for 96 minutes, Aquilino Justin put it in 5-2 from a short distance just to the right of Podador Zumaeta. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Inter MIAMI fans cheered their team off the field, for while Club Atlético River Plate had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
