Caetano Monteiro was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 24 minutes into the match, Icoara Football Club's goal looked a bit too open when Barnaba Borcz came free, but Caetano Monteiro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Borys Szarmach sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After 26 minutes, Wlodzimierz Sokolski made it 0-4 with a short kick to the right side. The Icoara Football Club fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Caetano Monteiro should have stopped the shot. After the first half Newcastle United were leading 0-8. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The Icoara Football Club fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Newcastle United were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
