Alfredo Fernandes succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-0 in the 11th playminute. After a rather tough play, ♙Fluminense Campéon 23♙'s Ernani Nascimento got a free kick in the 14th minute. The supporters of ♙Fluminense Campéon 23♙ booed when REAL VASCO RIO was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sydney Mazza didn't get a good kick on the ball. REAL VASCO RIO:s Júlio Catarinense showed great skill when he stopped Paulinho Souto:s penalty. Paulinho Souto scored 3-1 in the 46th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Júlio Catarinense, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-1 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Flavinho Vinhas was the one to do the kick off. 51 minutes into the match, Flavinho Vinhas had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Júlio Catarinense. REAL VASCO RIO's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Flavinho Vinhas was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-2. Ernani Nascimento fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Júlio Catarinense having to interfere. In the 63rd match minute, ♙Fluminense Campéon 23♙ was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Duda Marinho to maneuver through the defense. A collision led to REAL VASCO RIO getting a freekick after 64 minutes play. Horácio Damião hit a great ball. In the 66th minute, Paulinho Souto got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Saidi Costa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alfredo Fernandes, who was totally free with the ball in the 68th minute. Alfredo Fernandes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 72nd minute. Saidi Costa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the match had gone on for 78 minutes, Fred Marinho put it in 4-2 from a short distance just to the right of Saidi Costa. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alfredo Fernandes in the 84th minute of play forced ♙Fluminense Campéon 23♙'s goalkeeper Saidi Costa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Júlio Catarinense came out of the goal in the 88th minute to try and stop a shot by ♙Fluminense Campéon 23♙'s Ulisses Alves. But to his dismay, Ulisses Alves quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-3. Flavinho Vinhas could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 93rd minute of the match, but Júlio Catarinense made a huge save. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. REAL VASCO RIO had won after a very even match.
