Saidi Costa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Diego Cerezo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Décio Maia charged in rather forcefully in the 12th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Décio Maia the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Saidi Costa didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Nova Iguaçu MZFC. The supporters of ♙Fluminense Campéon 23♙ booed when Nova Iguaçu MZFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Paulo Renato Souza didn't get a good kick on the ball. Duda Marinho's late challenge caught a Nova Iguaçu MZFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Duda Marinho helped the player get up and apologised. In the 37th minute, Duda Marinho hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 44th minute, Diego Cerezo left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Nova Iguaçu MZFC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. 47 minutes into the match, ♙Fluminense Campéon 23♙'s goal looked a bit too open when Dudu Queiroz came free, but Saidi Costa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Flavinho Vinhas made a kick off. In the 52nd minute Paulo Renato Souza shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Saidi Costa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jailson de Carvalho's late challenge caught a ♙Fluminense Campéon 23♙'s player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jailson de Carvalho helped the player get up and apologised. After 69 played minutes Nova Iguaçu MZFC got a freekick which was hit by Jailson de Carvalho. In the 74th play minute Agnaldo Vargas came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Saidi Costa. 0-4. In the 82nd minute, Christiano de Azevedo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 83rd minute of the match Dudu Queiroz shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Saidi Costa showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 85th minute, Nova Iguaçu MZFC's Juvenal Novaes dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-5. In the 90th minute, Caetano Pires made a precise shot to the right of Saidi Costa. ♙Fluminense Campéon 23♙'s defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-6.
