Despite this Mário Quirino quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 9thth minute of the game Hélder Trigo who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Estrela Solitária's Mário Quirino was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Zé Augusto Peixoto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fernandão Queirós in the 14th minute of play. A collision led to Estrela Solitária getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Váldson Aguiar hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hélder Trigo in the 16th minute of play forced Estrela Solitária's goalkeeper Mário Quirino to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 26th minute, Válter Martins hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Vascogoianiense FC's Zé Augusto Peixoto proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 28th minute of the match, managed to save Vascogoianiense FC from getting a goal against them. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Luís Fernando Proença in the 55th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Zé Augusto Peixoto prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Anderson Valladares had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. When the match had gone on for 61 minutes, Luís Fernando Proença put it in 2-0 from a short distance just to the right of Zé Augusto Peixoto. In the 65th minute of the match, Dinei Silveira tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Mário Quirino saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. When Hélder Trigo fell near the penalty area in the 68th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Vascogoianiense FC's protests and gave Hélder Trigo a yellow card for diving instead. Hélder Trigo hit a great freekick 68 minutes into the match. The supporters of Vascogoianiense FC booed when Estrela Solitária was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 87 match minutes in a wonderful position. Betão Passos didn't get a good kick on the ball. Mário Quirino stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Hélder Trigo's shot from short distance in the 89th minute.
