In the 12th match minute, Vascogoianiense FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Miguel Mendes to maneuver through the defense. IpiráCity FC ✠⚓♡'s Thiago Correia got a good chance for a goal in the 13th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 18 minutes into the game, Vascogoianiense FC's Miguel Mendes nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Zé Carlos Castro made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. Breno da Cunha could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 23rd minute of the match, but Zé Augusto Peixoto made a huge save. After a defensive mix-up in Vascogoianiense FC's zone, Tarcisio Ramos stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Zé Augusto Peixoto came out of the goal and Tarcisio Ramos tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of IpiráCity FC ✠⚓♡ booed when Vascogoianiense FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Raúl de Andrade didn't get a good kick on the ball. Tarcisio Ramos might have been able to make a better finish in the 33rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Zé Augusto Peixoto. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Tarcisio Ramos ran back to his position shaking his head. Glauco Recife fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Zé Augusto Peixoto having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 44th minute, Dinei Silveira managed to get in a good position for a shot. Vascogoianiense FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Dinei Silveira was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Zé Carlos Castro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Thiago Correia was the one to do the kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 51st minute, Márcio Medeiros managed to get in a good position for a shot. Vascogoianiense FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Márcio Medeiros was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Zé Carlos Castro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 53 minutes into the match, Vascogoianiense FC's goal looked a bit too open when Thiago Correia came free, but Zé Augusto Peixoto reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Zé Augusto Peixoto showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Thiago Correia, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. In the 66th minute, Tarcisio Ramos ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Zé Augusto Peixoto was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-1. Zé Augusto Peixoto showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Pedrinho Teixeira, who was totally free with the ball in the 69th minute.
