Júlio Catarinense made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Frank Brodel in the 17th minute of play. In the 18th minute, Fred Marinho made a precise shot to the right of Walmyr Alagoano. Fluminense DF's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. After 21 played minutes Fluminense DF got a freekick which was hit by Dudu Aguiar. José Pedro Simão took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 22nd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Walmyr Alagoano. Fluminense DF's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Júlio Catarinense showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from João Carlos Torres, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. In the 40th minute Cauan Toscano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Júlio Catarinense saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. REAL VASCO RIO's Júlio Catarinense played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Frank Brodel in the 42nd minute of play. The supporters of Fluminense DF booed when REAL VASCO RIO was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alfredo Fernandes didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some careless play in the REAL VASCO RIO defense, Frank Brodel kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Júlio Catarinense. The REAL VASCO RIO fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Júlio Catarinense should have stopped the shot. The Fluminense DF players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented REAL VASCO RIO from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
