In the 13th match minute, GRÊMIO was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tiago Xavier to maneuver through the defense. Ulrik Allbom received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Sergio Goicoechea tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Oliver Lundin made a fantastic save in the 17th minute, when Lázaro Mincho sent off a good shot on target. 21 minutes into the match, Rasmus Gernberg had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Sergio Goicoechea. GRÊMIO's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Rasmus Gernberg was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Rasmus Gernberg kicked well hit freekick during the 40th minute of the match. Oliver Lundin made a fantastic save in the 43rd minute, when Lázaro Mincho sent off a good shot on target. Silvério Pinheiro's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Oliver Lundin read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 45th minute of play. The supporters of Doctors of Dental Surgery booed when GRÊMIO was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aníbal Moura didn't get a good kick on the ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when 史挺南 stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Rasmus Gernberg during the 52nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 52 played minutes Doctors of Dental Surgery got a freekick which was hit by Rasmus Gernberg. GRÊMIO's Sergio Goicoechea played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rasmus Gernberg in the 66th minute of play. After 67 minutes GRÊMIO's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Nils-Emil Persson who took care of the corner kick. After some fancy dribbling in the 68th minute, 史挺南 managed to get in a good position for a shot. GRÊMIO's supporters rose to their feet, but 史挺南 was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Oliver Lundin breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Doctors of Dental Surgery's Oliver Lundin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Abel Pirani in the 76th minute of play. Rasmus Gernberg fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sergio Goicoechea having to interfere. Although GRÊMIO had been in control for most of the match, Doctors of Dental Surgery still came away with the win.
