GRÊMIO's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Lima Team the free kick. Francisco Infante made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Silvério Pinheiro in the 10th minute of play. Hugo De Leon kicked well hit freekick during the 11th minute of the match. Sergio Goicoechea was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 12th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Herberto Caiado. In the 13th minute Silvério Pinheiro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Francisco Infante saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sergio Goicoechea showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Herberto Caiado in the 15th minute of the match. Sergio Goicoechea was a little too slow when Jacob Barroso got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 18th minute. The score was now 1-0. Anselmo Domingos took the ball and in the 22 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Sergio Goicoechea. Sergio Goicoechea dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. With a little luck, GRÊMIO's Sergio Goicoechea got control of the ball when Herberto Caiado tried to sneak it across the goal line. Francisco Infante took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Silvério Pinheiro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 34 minutes into the game, Lima Team's Carlos Palmeira nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Sergio Goicoechea made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-0. Silvério Pinheiro's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Francisco Infante read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 37th minute of play. In the 39th minute Herberto Caiado shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sergio Goicoechea saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sergio Goicoechea stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Herberto Caiado's shot from short distance in the 45th minute. Sergio Goicoechea made a fantastic save in the 47th minute, when Jacob Barroso sent off a good shot on target. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 4-0.

In the 51st minute, Herberto Caiado hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 52 minutes into the match, Lima Team's goal looked a bit too open when Luiz Gustavo Mazza came free, but Francisco Infante reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 54th minute, Carlos Palmeira left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Lima Team fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 5-0. 62 minutes into the match, GRÊMIO's goal looked a bit too open when Anselmo Domingos came free, but Sergio Goicoechea reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Lima Team booed when GRÊMIO was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luiz Gustavo Mazza didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sergio Goicoechea showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Herberto Caiado, who was totally free with the ball in the 67th minute. The corner was taken by Aníbal Moura in the 83rd minute. When Luiz Gustavo Mazza fell near the penalty area in the 86th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored GRÊMIO's protests and gave Luiz Gustavo Mazza a yellow card for diving instead. Luiz Gustavo Mazza hit a great freekick 87 minutes into the match. In the 87th minute of the match Herberto Caiado sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Sergio Goicoechea skillfully saved the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Herberto Caiado in the 90th minute of play forced GRÊMIO's goalkeeper Sergio Goicoechea to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 91st minute, Anselmo Domingos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Lima Team fans cheered their team off the field, for while GRÊMIO had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
