The Everett Hawks's Ludo Vanden Bossche played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Guga Trancoso in the 10th minute of play. In the 12th minute Mete Gøl shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ludo Vanden Bossche saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 14th minute, Willem-Jan Grootjans left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The The Everett Hawks fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. After 16 played minutes PIAUÍ FC got a freekick which was hit by Gilvan Azevedo. Feijo Fresnos was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 17th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Ludo Vanden Bossche showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mete Gøl in the 19th minute of the match. In the 21st minute Andreas Pirlo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Serginho Nogueira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Guga Trancoso in the 22nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ludo Vanden Bossche saved The Everett Hawks from getting behind. Serginho Nogueira made an important save on a dangerous shot by Fre van Eijnde in the 23rd minute. If Demis Katsarolidis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Serginho Nogueira showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Andreas Pirlo in the 39th minute of the match. In the 40th minute of the match The Everett Hawks got a corner. PIAUÍ FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Feijo Fresnos ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner ended in Fre van Eijnde almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but PIAUÍ FC's Serginho Nogueira did a great save. After 42 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for The Everett Hawks! In the 43rd minute there was a penalty for PIAUÍ FC. Demis Katsarolidis stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Ludo Vanden Bossche. 2-2. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 2-2 after a close first half.

The Everett Hawks's supporters crossed their fingers, but Andreas Pirlo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Philippe-Arnaud Heremans had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. If Guga Trancoso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Juninho Freitas in the 61st minute of play forced The Everett Hawks's goalkeeper Ludo Vanden Bossche to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Mete Gøls short, quick shot in the 66thth minute got Ludo Vanden Bossche to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Andreas Pirlo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Serginho Nogueira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 70 minutes into the match, Philippe-Arnaud Heremans had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Serginho Nogueira. In the 81st minute, Andreas Pirlo made a precise shot to the right of Serginho Nogueira. PIAUÍ FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-4. PIAUÍ FC's Fernandinho Mesquita was substituted for Demis Katsarolidis. 87 minutes into the game, PIAUÍ FC's Guga Trancoso nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ludo Vanden Bossche made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-5. Serginho Nogueira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Andreas Pirlo in the 89th minute of play. Luke Van Bostraeten hit a great freekick 90 minutes into the match. Through an outstanding action, after 91 minutes, Ludo Vanden Bossche successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Fernandinho Mesquita's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Ludo Vanden Bossche firmly grabbed it by the left post. The The Everett Hawks supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching PIAUÍ FC's performance. The match ended with a win for PIAUÍ FC.
