The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Nils-Erik Askelöf made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Flavio Cifuentes in the 20th minute of play. 21 minutes into the match, Southern Thrashers's goal looked a bit too open when Flavio Cifuentes came free, but Nils-Erik Askelöf reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Taltum FC's attentive Norbert Dabrowski managed to snatch the ball when Dan Cubitt made a throw-in in the 27th minute of the game. An unexpected shot in the 29th minute by Cai Inestrosa got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Southern Thrashers's Nils-Erik Askelöf played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Flavio Cifuentes in the 32nd minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Southern Thrashers's zone, Flavio Cifuentes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nils-Erik Askelöf came out of the goal and Flavio Cifuentes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Flavio Cifuentes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nils-Erik Askelöf having to interfere. In the 38th minute, Nurkan Salah ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Zhang Hao Qing was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. 44 minutes into the game, Southern Thrashers's Angelino Ospin nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Zhang Hao Qing made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Cai Inestrosa was the one to do the kick off. In the 83rdth minute of the game Espinosa Marco who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Southern Thrashers's Nils-Erik Askelöf was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. With a little luck, Southern Thrashers's Nils-Erik Askelöf got control of the ball when Espinosa Marco tried to sneak it across the goal line.
