Bengt-Rune Fastesson blasted a shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Marcial Lordi having to make a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ariel Jesus in the 16th minute of play forced RIVER's goalkeeper Marcial Lordi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 22nd minute of the match, Isaac Intxixu tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Marcial Lordi saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. In the 23rd minute, ACF Fiorentina's Ariel Jesus ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Marcial Lordi. Marcial Lordi yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-1. Marcial Lordi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ariel Jesus in the 25th minute of the match. Ariel Jesus who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 30thth minute tested the skills of Marcial Lordi when he managed to save the team from getting behind. When the match had gone on for 33 minutes, Ariel Jesus took a quick shot and it went in 3-1 without a chance for Marcial Lordi to make any attempt to save it. RIVER's Fidel Gora was substituted for Bruno Oxarra. A collision led to RIVER getting a freekick after 42 minutes play. Tobias Belmiro hit a great ball. In the 47th minute Fidel Gora shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Federico Kalinowski saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. RIVER's Domingo Remigio was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Federico Kalinowski in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-1 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Niki Lauda to make the kick off. RIVER's Marcial Lordi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bengt-Rune Fastesson in the 54th minute of play. After a rather tough play, RIVER's Tobias Belmiro got a free kick in the 54th minute. The audience was convinced that Anselmo Luar's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Marcial Lordi was relentless in the 85th minute of the game. RIVER's Marcial Lordi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hildeberto Carvalho in the 87th minute of play. Niki Lauda could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 97th minute of the match, but Federico Kalinowski made a huge save. When the referee ended the match the ACF Fiorentina players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
