Markos Seremetidis started the match with the kick off. Akis Sarafis showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from André Luiz Xavier in the 11th minute of the match. In the 13th minute André Luiz Xavier shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Akis Sarafis saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers André Luiz Xavier in the 13th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Akis Sarafis saved AFC Ajax from getting behind. After having played for 16 minutes, Ponc Calderona managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. KS Ruch Chorzów's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ponc Calderona was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Erez Manco showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Michelangelo Merganiotis, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. The crowd rose to their feet as AFC Ajax's Li Kuan Hong slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Erez Manco. That made the score 1-0 after 19 minutes of play. Benedykt Erland hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. Erez Manco took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Markos Seremetidis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Erez Manco made a fantastic save in the 34th minute, when Li Kuan Hong sent off a good shot on target. AFC Ajax's Akis Sarafis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by André Luiz Xavier in the 41st minute of play. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

AFC Ajax's Alexandros Sardanis was substituted for Markos Seremetidis. AFC Ajax's Aureo Morera was substituted for Li Kuan Hong. 75 minutes into the match, KS Ruch Chorzów's goal looked a bit too open when Michelangelo Merganiotis came free, but Erez Manco reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Michelangelo Merganiotis in the 86th minute of play forced KS Ruch Chorzów's goalkeeper Erez Manco to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Alexandros Sardanis sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. AFC Ajax had won after a very even match.
