Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Guido Vissenaeken in the 9th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Hong Ballard prevented the ball from getting in the gole. A sloppy throw-in by Warner Paimboeuf in the 11th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Brugge United's Dacian Hrean. Hong Ballard made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Guido Vissenaeken in the 12th minute of play. Hong Ballard didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Guido Vissenaeken went, in the 12th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. Vítor Baia made a fantastic save in the 15th minute, when Bertrand Glass sent off a good shot on target. With an all-out effort, Fly T.T's Vítor Baia threw himself towards the right post 17 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Thibault Lane, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. 18 minutes into the game, Warner Paimboeuf was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Fly T.T's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Brugge United the free kick. The supporters of Brugge United booed when Fly T.T was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Warner Paimboeuf didn't get a good kick on the ball. Hong Ballard showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Guido Vissenaeken, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. 25 minutes into the game, Warner Paimboeuf threw the ball into play from the sideline. Brugge United's Dacian Hrean quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Guido Vissenaeken took the ball and in the 26 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Hong Ballard. After 34 minutes Fly T.T's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Jaspar Van Den Broeck who took care of the corner kick. It was a well-played corner which Ümit Karan managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. In the 41st minute the ball was on its way in behind Fly T.T's goalkeeper Hong Ballard, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Sandro Gaúcho hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. In the 46th minute Guido Vissenaeken shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hong Ballard saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The Fly T.T players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Brugge United were winning 0-4.

Hong Ballard was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. If Guido Vissenaeken had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Guido Vissenaeken got free with Hong Ballard in the 94th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 96th minute Guido Vissenaeken shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hong Ballard saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
